What is BT Full Fiber 300?
Full fiber (also known as fiber to the premises or FTTP for short) is the next generation of home broadband technology.
By using fiber optic cables that extend into your home, you get faster download speeds, a more reliable connection, and a more consistent experience. This is because it eliminates older copper technology, which can cause slowdowns and make it more prone to outages.
Full Fiber 300 is one of BT’s mid-range full fiber tariffs. Average download speeds are 300Mbps, which is more than four times faster than regular Fiber 2 broadband. This makes it ideal for busy households with lots of connected devices (for example, you can stream UHD video on up to 12 devices at the same time). Additionally, its improved reliability makes it ideal for working from home, while its lower latency makes it beneficial for online gaming.
BT Full Fiber 300 Features
Speed guaranteed
BT’s Full Fiber 300 comes with a ‘Stay Fast’ speed guarantee. This means that connection speeds to the hub are guaranteed throughout the duration of the tariff. Expert support is also available to increase speed if needed.
When you order the Full Fiber 300 plan online, you will see a minimum guaranteed download speed. If your hub’s connection speed is slower than this guaranteed minimum speed, you can claim a £20 refund from BT. You can also cancel the contract without paying a fee. Terms and conditions can be found on the BT website.
Online security
The Full Fiber 300 plan includes inclusive online security. As part of this process, you will receive Virus Protect, BT antivirus software from Norton. This license allows you to use Virus Protect on up to 15 devices simultaneously, including PCs, Macs, and Android devices. You also get Norton Password Manager, which allows you to securely store your login information in a private online vault.
BT’s Web Protect service is also included with the Full Fiber 300. This blocks websites that are known to be potentially harmful. Smart Hub 2 also includes parental controls and Wi-Fi controls.
Smart Hub 2 with Wi-Fi Control
You can use BT’s Smart Hub 2 router with the Full Fiber 300. This will create a Wi-Fi network that other devices in your home can connect to. It also has four built-in Gigabit Ethernet jacks, allowing you to connect wired devices to your home network.
One of the benefits of the Smart Hub 2 is the built-in Wi-Fi controls, allowing you to easily manage your home network using the My BT app. For example, you can pause your home Wi-Fi network for a single device, a group of devices, or all devices at once. This means you can manage your family’s screen time by turning off the internet during meals or after bed, for example.
TV and WiFi added
The following add-ons are available for Full Fiber 300:
EE TV: For a flexible TV service that works with a full fiber connection, you can add EE TV to the Full Fiber 300. A variety of TV packages are available with access to NOW Entertainment, Netflix, Discovery+ and TNT Sports, Sky Sports and more. You can stream all your live TV and on-demand content over Wi-Fi, no antenna or dish required.
Full Wi-Fi: This add-on ensures a guaranteed Wi-Fi signal in every room in your home. This is done using a full Wi-Fi disc, which amplifies the signal from the hub. BT can also provide up to two additional Wi-Fi discs if required. Complete Wi-Fi service uses mesh technology to provide a seamless Wi-Fi network throughout your home. This is backed by a £100 money back guarantee.
Hybrid connectivity: This adds a 4G broadband connection that can be used as a backup if the fiber connection fails. Switching between full fiber and 4G happens seamlessly at the hub, so all your devices stay connected to the internet without any effort on your part. Backup connectivity is provided via EE’s 4G network.
Switch to BT
If you’re currently using another broadband provider, you can easily switch your service to BT.
First, order your new Full Fiber 300 broadband package online. If this is your first time using FTTP broadband in your home, we will schedule an appointment with a technician to install the service.
In most cases, once you have ordered a new tariff from BT, your old provider will be automatically contacted to cancel the old service. However, if you are a customer of Virgin Media or another provider that does not use the Openreach network, you will need to contact them separately to cancel.
